Mission of Personal Ministries:
The mission of Personal Ministries is to provide resources and training and to involve all our members in soul-winning service, equipping and mobilising the membership in Erdington Church to actively finish the work that Jesus entrusted to us...Matthew 28:18-20.
Our Goal:
Simply put...”To make disciples for Christ”. Jesus said, “Take my yoke upon you and learn of me”(Matthew 11:29). We have a life and death message to give to the community in Revelation 14:6-12, and so we’re aiming to involve every member (TMI)...Total Member Involvement, in serving the needs of others, sharing Bible truths and leading souls to follow Christ and unite with His Remnant Church.

Strategic Plan:
Our Strategic plan is for Church Growth and has five essential Evangelistic Phases. It’s termed, “The Cycle of Evangelism”.
(1). The SOIL of the HEART will be prepared with Friendship and Service.
(2) The SEED of the WORD will be planted with Truth-filled literature, Media, Testimonies and invitation to Bible Studies or Seminars.
(3) We will CULTIVATE with ongoing Bible Studies.
(4) HARVESTING/REAPING. Decisions to follow Christ and His Word will be harvested with personal and public appeals.
(5). PRESERVING the HARVEST. The Harvest will be preserved through Nurturing and Mentoring of new members. This strategic plan is part of an SDA global initiative and is termed: “GROWING THE CHURCH”
EVENTS for 2020 and Beyond.
We started our church's program for 2020 with, “Just what the doctor ordered”, and also right on theback of a very successful “Reversing Diabetes Seminar”...a “Health and Recilience Seminar" conducted by Dr Deborah Benjamin on how to define stress and to manage it employing various coping mechanisms. This 6-week seminar began 7.15 January 9 and is scheduled to finish February 16.
The PM department had planned to run this seminar in the summer of 2019 but events overtook us and had to be postponed. The first session commenced with 24 people in attendance,A very welcome sight to behold. Many people from the community mingling with the membership enjoying what was a very well presented, informative and interactive first presentation. Some of the words and jargons used in the presentation are not in common use but are employed in “People centred Counselling... a word like Empathy...a therapist/counsellor attempting to understand people’s experiences by imagining himself/herself in their predicament. Many people we feel, find these type of Seminars beneficial. They are seeking solutions to the stresses of life which can be frustrating and debilitating at times. In those situations when we’re in pain or stressed, our thinking becomes impaired and we tend to lose perspective and we isolate ourselves according to Proverbs 18:1. And when we isolate ourselves we tend to seek comfort from things that
maybe are not good for us.
At the end of each presentation, guests stayed behind to take part in the social interactions and enjoy the refreshments provided for them. It is hoped that we can have a follow up seminar later in the year and we intend to continue to engage with the local community by putting on programs we think they’d be interested in. Making friends for Jesus is what we do in Erdington.
Upcoming programs:
- In keeping with our Strategic Plan, the last Sabbath in every month is set aside for taking the Church to the community through witnessing, literature distribution in he High Street, door to door witnessing and canvassing.
- The Walking and Excercise Group that was formed a couple of years ago have moved from outside and now convenes in the Church. Members of the community join with some Church members in a Church members in an excercise class. They meet on Mondays.
- The Personal Ministries department is also planning a “Secrets of Prophecy” Seminar which will take place later in the year in the absence of any other outreach programs. Obviously we are still preparing the soil in our Cycle of Evangelism.
- The Secrets of Prophecy will take us through some of the major prophecies of the Bible, using the Bible to explain itself, these topics include:
- Who will control the world..
- How will the world end...
- Where is hell...
- Who is the antichrist..
- Why so many churches...
- What will happen on Judgment Day...
- Why are there so many natural disasters...
- Will there be a final great battle...
- A drop in/walk in centre was mooted tentatively, but instead of selling things, we would have stalls where we provide refreshments and give out literature; have cookery demos, food samples and also hand out mental Health well-being literature.
Due to the pandemic and continued national lockdown, we do apologise that some of our key initiatives planned for the first two quarters of 2021 will be put on hold.
